Hey tcat75-

Do a quick search for Gerald Green here on ETB, you'll see that over the years I've wanted to be as big of a Gerald Green supporter as you'll find on the internet. From Boston to Minnesota to Houston to Dallas, I've supported him every step of the way.

It is about effort though, and it is about preparation. He's routinely criticized for not knowing offensive and defensive sets, for not paying attention in huddles, for trying to freelance to make up for it and for looking confused and out of sync on both ends of the floor. And it's a shame, because he could be great.

As a Mavs fan, I whole-heartedly agree that I want to see Green.

As for the "if he wants to" jab, I know that's the common opinion. When people look at Gerald, they say, "He doesn't work hard enough." But he does. According to numerous sources, he's the guy who comes early and stays late. He's active, interested in the team...he was the first person on the Mavericks team to meet Dirk after Dirk knocked down the game-winning shot against Indiana and was coming to the bench, and was right in the middle of the huddle with a huge smile on his face.

Its not about his effort. I know Van Gundy dissed him during one game, saying he didn't work hard in pre-game, but Van Gundy also said in an earlier game that Green was getting playing time (he had just entered in the game) because of his hard work.

I just wish Rick would give Green some consistant minutes. Not necessarily even every game, but when we face an athletic, young team then Gerald sees the floor. Or when we are struggling to score, Gerald sees the floor. That's all. Just 15 minutes a game...10! That's all! Please, Carlisle?
