players better than Rudy.
Russell Westbrook.
Nate Robinson.
Anthony Randolph.
Eric Gordon.
Jason RIchardson.
Anthony Parker.
Why?
Cause Rudy plays like he thins hes a star. Hes not. He never will be. At best, he could be a 3rd option on a Conference Finals level team.
But he wont be, cause soon hell get payed like a 2nd banana and his contract will keep his team afloat right in the 9-14 slots of the lottery.

Earlier in the year while visiting my cousins in Memphis, I attended the Grizz's home opener against Orlando. Rudy had an unbelievable game hitting a jumper with a few seconds left to win the game.

I followed the Grizz a lot in recent years, because many of my favorite college and high school players started their career here. Naturally, after Gay hit that jumper I was excited because they beat one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference and Gay got to reveal his potential as a top, quality player.

Having said this, the Grizzlies have been one of the worst NBA franchises the past 5 years. Many of their young players have not played up to expectations, but this is not entirely the players' fault. All of the front office and coaching changes in the past years have created an unstable environment that has hindered the growth of these young players. With Mayo, Gay, and Conley; I see a group of focused and talented young players eagerly waiting for some form of stable guidance.

Also, when I lived near Memphis I read in the Commercial Appeal that the team shop at FedEx sells more blank #22 jerseys than than #2 Gay jerseys.

Being a self-described "Memphis Grizzlies sympathizer", I've had a hard time with Rudy's lack of development this season. All the stories of his being everything from "unmotivated" to "uncoachable" have me legitimately worried. There's just nothing worse than hitching your hopes and fandom to a promising young player only to go through a season like this one. I'm hoping it's a minor setback, and that the Grizz will end up making a simple move or hiring a full-time coach who can get him back on the right track.
