Bynum could be one of the best Centers to ever play the game. He toyed with the Wolves last night. And now today he's hurt again, a disturbing trend in him which has separated many great talents from greatness.

Right--but perhaps Phil saw the error in that decision in the first OT because he most definitely was turning to Bynum in the second one.

To add on to what J said, not only did Phil pull Andrew out of the game in the first OT with a five or six-point lead, but with 40 seconds left in OT and the Lakers still clinging to a three-point lead, Kobe fouled out. Who does Phil sub into the game? The lightning fast pogo stick leaper Luke Walton. So, instead of Bynum patrolling the paint with the 7-1 Pau Gasol and his 7-5 wingspan guarding Boris Diaw on the perimeter, we had Gasol in the paint and Lamar Odom guarding Diaw. Boris then hit the tying three when LO left him to double up on the driving Raymond Felton. Ugh.

Lakers lost the game last night because Phil didn't trust Bynum. Pulling him with a six point lead and two minutes left in the first OT and subbing in a cold ineffective Pau made no sense to me.

Bynum was dominating on both ends and had lots of energy. None of Phil's usual reasons to pull Bynum was there. Bynum finishes OT, Lakers win.

Couldnt agree with you more. Bynum is looking very good of late and continuing to develop nicely. He is still very very young and his offensive skills still have plenty of time to grow. I like that he is starting to take some hard fouls now and act alittle tougher/more of an enforcer. However, his foul last night on Wallace was un-called for.

great post. i was following the Bobcats game thinking, "this reminds me of the time a young Kobe was trusted with the ball down the stretch when Shaq was the leader". Bynum looks like he's finally got back to playing that all-star level ball he was before he got injured last season.
