Oh, and I also fully agree with David's assessment of Al Thornton. He killed the Hornets in New Orleans last season. He's going to be special.

I remember that article David did about Chris Paul being credited with assists that were not actual assists. I haven't paid as much attention to stats since. There's really no substitute for watching the games.

Great interview.

Great insights by David. The one disagreement I would have would be about the question of who "won" the coaching matchup in the Finals, Doc or Phil. David mentioned that the adjustment of putting Kobe on Rondo before Game 3 could have changed the series if the Lakers had held onto that huge lead in Game 4. However, I and a few other posters on various NBA blogs were advocating this move before Game 1. If the Lakers steal one of the first two games in Boston because of this move, the entire dynamic of the series changes, and perhaps Rondo's confidence is destroyed...especially if there is a lot of scrutiny in the press.

Great idea for an article. Great insights by Mr. Friedman. The TV talking heads (any color commentator guy you care to name except Hubie Brown) never offer these kinds of insights, yet that is something that should be expected of them as a given.
