Maybe you were just expecting too much from Wallace.

He's a very physical player, and was a major reason why Garnett ran out of gas in the 2nd half. The funny part to me is that Varejao was supposed to go out there, get six hard fouls, and sit down to let Wallace finish up. But the refs had swallowed their whistles, which certainly benefited Varejao (who is too slow to stop Garnett without fouling him).

I felt from the moment the trade was made that we should start Joe Smith, not because there's anything wrong with Wallace, but because Smith is such an excellent all-around player. He's not a bad defender or rebounder, and unlike Wallace he's capable of going for 7/8 for 14 points.

thanx for posting this article. i'm a great fan of Ben Walace but I agree I am not pleased with the way he has been playing so far. I miss his hustle plays, and his ferocious rebounding that he did back in detroit. I was hoping with the big deal he got in Chicago he could redeem himself back to the "fear the fro' days now it seems players are not even flinched by his presence.
