It's a bye week but I think I may get him now before someone else does. Trent Green is sitting there too. Hate to keep bugging you but who do you like better between Garrard and Green? One of them could be my starter for the rest of the year depending on what transpires in Arizona.

No problem Bart, thanks for the kind word.

Personally, I'd scoop up Garrard in place of Carr. His running ability makes him a borderline top-12 QB for fantasy teams this year. Barring some unforeseen explosion from Carr he's going to be out of a job in two weeks when Delhomme returns.

Thanks very much Andrew. I too believed Leinhart would take off this year. Thought the same about Alex Smith but dropped him for Anderson after his giant game. Picked up Carr just because he was there and Steve Smith has to catch bombs from someone. But your points about Carr are probably right on. Gerrard is on the wire. May get him. Kind of sucks. I feel pretty good about the rest of the roster but my quarterback situation stinks. Thanks Again. Love the site.

Hello Bart-

Jeez, that's a dilly of a pickle. Those aren't very attractive options. Unless your starter is on his bye week, one thing you might want to do now is take a look at the other teams in your league and see who has two better options and make them some offers for their backup.

But on to your dilemma this week.

Brian and I thought Leinart was going to take a major step forward this season with those weapons at his disposal, but it hasn't happened yet and now he's in danger of losing playing time to Kurt 'effin Warner. The second season is traditionally when you see the most improvement from QBs, and there's still time, but it's hard to roll with Leinart right now.

We really don't have a lot of faith in David Carr's skills, and he's never had a very good deep ball, but Steve Smith can make anybody look good. Still, I think Monte Kiffin figures out how to bring some heat and we all know how Carr handles pressure in the pocket- he lays down.

As strange as it feels saying this, I recommend starting the 6'6" Derek Anderson. I don't know if I've ever recommended him before, but he's the least of these three evils. He has great weapons in Braylon Edwards and Kellen Winslow (if he plays). He's surprisingly competent and capable of making some big plays downfield, and the Ravens secondary isn't that intimidating right now. Last season Anderson put up 223 and a pair of scores in Baltimore, so in Cleveland a similar output would not surprise.

1st year player here and my team is slowly being dismantled by injuries, busts and my own impatience. Question: Start Matt Leinhart, Derek Anderson or David Carr? Thanks.

Hey Kurt,

Good question, and you make two good points in weighing the positives and negatives of starting either. There's a good chance KC will be throwing for much of second half because we can't see Larry Johnson finding much room run, and the Bolts should put some early points on the board. So, Bowe has that going for him as the team's WR1 at the moment.

On the other hand, Javon Walker is hobbled and Denver will need to throw as well against the Colts. We don't think the smallish Indy corners can hold Marshall out of the endzone if he's the #1 guy and they get inside the 20. Plus, you're going to get more consistency from the more polished Marshall, and Cutler can deliver the ball better than Huard.

If we had to pick, Marshall would be the guy. But you know how these things go...

Also thought I should mention that Willie Parker is gonna run over Arizona this week, San Fran is still listed above from last week.

Between Dwayne Bowe and Brandon Marshall, who would you expect to have a better match up this week? SD's secondary has looked very weak, while Marshall face's a strong Colts pass D. Marshall has been consistent and improving, but Bowe looks like he's about to break out, do I hold off on starting the rook until he convinces me a little more?

Looking at one thing, writing about another... thanks for pointing that oversight out. Really not sure what happened there.
