ETB Featured in NBA Roundtable Discussion

April 17, 2007

Last week Sebastian over at the great new NBA blog Three In The Key invited me to participate in a discussion about this, that, and the other in the NBA World. And wouldn’t you know it, the results are up already; please click here to find out what we think about the upcoming playoffs, the MVP award, and who our favorite NBA broadcast team is.

Here’s an excerpt; click on either link above to read the full transcript.

What is your final matchup, and who do you have winning?

Howie: Mavericks vs. Pistons. CWebb is doing magical things there; and Mavs can’t not be in this, not only because it’ll be a wasted season, Mark Cuban will go psycho on his blog. Finals Winner: Mavericks in 5.

Yours Truly: I think it’s Detroit and… ugh, Dallas I guess, though San Antonio is going to make it very difficult on the Mavs. Honestly, if both teams makes the conference finals, it’s pretty much a toss up. The Finals will be the same way; Dallas is the better overall team, but I can’t help but feel that (here comes the homerism) if the Pistons make it all the way there that they won’t lose their chance at claiming another title. Rake me over the coals if you must: Pistons in 6 or 7.

Ryan: I think that Detroit will meet San Antonio in the Finals and the Spurs will stomp all over the Pistons.

Sebastian: Well, here is where my Chicago Bulls bias comes in. The playoffs in my opinion are all about matchups. The Bulls are confident they can beat the Pistons, and I think they match up very well against them. I think the Pistons will beat the Heat, whenever they meet, and I think the Bulls will beat the Pistons. On the west side, the Mavericks will not be stopped. Mavericks over Bulls in 5.

Many thanks to my fellow panelists: Ryan at HoopsAddict, Howie at NBA Basketball and Other Unrelatedness, and of course Sebastian at Three In The Key

Great roundtable discussion. I like the Piston’s chances in the east also. They are much more rested than last year and have better depth on the bench. This may be their last chance for another title with this core group. Hard to bet against the Mav’s in the west, but anything can happen with Phoenix and San Antonio in the mix. I would love to see the Pistons and the Mavericks in the finals. I think it would be a great matchup with the Piston’s winning a game seven in Dallas.
