Flea Claims the LA Lakers “are Pickling Their Brains in Losing Juice”
March 19, 2007

Since posting about Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ ongoing Lakers blog on NBA.com, we here at Empty the Bench just haven’t been able to pull ourselves away from his thoughtful prose. As such, we’ve decided to regularly reprint select passages of Flea articulately expressing himself through words. Flea has been busy blogging lately, finding himself torn between giving up on his beloved Lakers and believing they can pull it all together.
The return of Kwame Brown and Luke Walton (Flea famously wrote in a previous passage “come back luke come back kwame”), not to mention Kobe’s sick scoring streak (games of 65 and 50 points, respectively, in a row), have Flea smiling that lovable gap-toothed grin of his. Still, the prospect of a Lakers collapse leaves him wary of recent wins. Read more from Flea’s NBA blog here.
faith
the lakers are on a 7 game losing streak
but i am much less despondent about their performance than i was a
week ago
as a matter of fact i am feeling a ray of sunshine
beaming into the dark dusty room of their losing ways,
despite being pounded mercilessly by the nuggets last night
the disparate pieces that make up momentum and confidence and a
winning streak
are scattered about on the floor like an infant’s toys
but the are starting to get picked up and put in their rightful place
where they will gel together and make a mighty laker team
i have faithto shift from one with a winning attitude and one with a losing attitude
is just a funny thing………hhmmmmm……very interesting
a teams mental state, an individuals mental state, and all the things
that dictate that state
it would seem have more to do with wins and loses than talent
the lakers are pickling their brains in losing juice
