Frank Gore Made a Deal with the Devil

March 8, 2007

Ahman Green gets four years, $23 million from the Houston Texans. Willis McGahee, after being traded to the Baltimore Ravens, re-ups for a six-year, $32 million deal. Thomas Jones is moved to the New York Jets and inks a four-year, $12 million extension. Fred Taylor somehow lands a lucrative extension. Well, apparently San Francisco 49ers running back Frank Gore wants in, too, even though he’s not a free agent. In fact, he’s only into Year 2 of a five-year agreement.

Don't ever anger Satan

Jason Cole for Yahoo! Sports spilled the beans on Gore, the 49ers’ 1,700-yard rusher from last season who signed over his soul to the man most NFL GMs wish they could kick in the nuts with a steel-toed boot. That’s right, the devil himself, agent Drew Rosenhaus, wants a new Mercedes SUV feels his client is being shafted:

“Obviously, [contract talks for Gore have] to heat up after where the market has gone the past week for running backs,” Rosenhaus said. You’d like to think that a deal for Frank is imminent. The landscape for running backs has changed drastically in the past week and with the type of forward-thinking approach that the 49ers have, I would think they’ll be interested in getting something done.”

“With the type of forward-thinking approach that the 49ers have,” says Satan. Ohhhhhhh man. Vice President of Player Personnel Scott McCloughan has to just be seething at that phony little dig. Our guess is that Gore probably gets some kind of extension, and that Rosenhaus would trade his children for a few rounds of golf at Pebble Beach and three fine Cuban cigars.
