Big Al Wants to Finish His Career in Boston

March 8, 2007

Al staying in Boston?

On the heels of being named by ETB as the top reason to watch a Boston Celtics game, power forward Al Jefferson told the Boston Herald that Celtic green and white essentially runs in his veins, and that he’d like to play in Boston for the entirety of his career:

“I love this place,” said Jefferson, who had yet another double-double (20 points, 13 rebounds) in 34 minutes. “I love the Green and White. I love Boston. If I have my way, I’ll stay here for the rest of my career. You don’t really know until you cross that bridge, but I really believe in my heart that everything will be OK and everything’s going to work out fine. I really do. But I’m not going to worry about it now. I’ll cross that bridge when I get there. I haven’t been thinking about that too much.”

This kind of sentiment from their 22-year-old rising star has to be good to hear for Celtics’ fans. Jefferson has turned himself into a double-double machine, and there’s no doubt he’s only going to get better. Look, if the kid has already shown the kind of dedication necessary to shed all those extra pounds from when he first came into the league in 2004-05, you better believe he has the inner drive and motivation to further hone his already devastating post-up game and steadily improving interior defense. ETB is looking forward to watching this fella give his opponents fits for year to come.
