Tyson Chandler’s Rebound Buffet

February 14, 2007

Tyson Chandler

We knew that New Orleans/Oklahoma City Center Tyson Chandler had been an absolute monster on the boards lately, but this is just plain silly. After last night’s 23-rebound effort in a losing cause to the Memphis Grizzlies, Chandler is now averaging just over 16 boards/game over his last 11! Pair that with a field-goal percentage that’s been hovering around 50%, 2.5 blocks, low turnovers, and over 12 points/game during that same stretch, and you have one of the most productive NBA fantasy centers in the game right now.

He’s certainly not available on waivers anymore (and if he is, shame on you for playing fantasy sports with second-graders), but it’s certainly worthwhile to float a few trade proposals for him while he remains relatively unheralded. Chandler is somewhat of an injury risk, but when healthy the man puts up beaucoup numbers. And since he’s running for one of the worst shooting teams in the league, expect those rebounding stats to continue at their stratospheric levels.
